RESTORING SIGHT, RESTORING HOPE: A CALL TO HELP THE TRANSMARA COMMUNITY

Detailed Report: Kisii/Kilgoris/Lolgorian Eye Surgical Camp

Partner Organizations and Contributions

Our heartfelt gratitude goes to the many partners who made this camp possible. Together, we brought life-changing vision care to hundreds and provided essential support to communities in need:

  • Vuna International: Generously sponsored the camp's treatment for common diseases, expanding our scope beyond eye care to address the broader health needs of the community.
  • Karen Community SDA Church: Played a crucial role in logistics, legal compliance, and overall coordination, ensuring each camp location operated smoothly.
  • Minnesota Conference: Supported accommodation and meals, and distributed clothing to underprivileged members of the community, extending our impact beyond healthcare.
  • The Quantum Awakening Initiative powered by Foundation "Light: We especially thank the Quantum Awakening Team for their exceptional efforts in fundraising, which raised over €7,500 to make this medical camp possible. So much thanks to all participants contributed through the inner light creating quantum workshops, events and festival, organized by this inspiring team, which was all in the end vital to delivering transformative care to the Kisii, Kilgoris, and Lolgorian communities.

Celebrating Media and Outreach: Photos and Documentary

Through a moving photo series and documentary, we captured stories of transformation and resilience. Patients' journeys from darkness to sight were chronicled in these visual stories, resonating with audiences worldwide and inspiring further support for future camps. Our heartfelt thanks go to everyone who shared these media moments, helping to spread awareness of the impact of vision-restoring surgeries.

Community Feedback and Next Steps for Greater Impact

Reflecting on this successful camp, we see the potential for even greater reach and deeper impact. The feedback we received from Lions SightFirst Eye Hospital emphasized the importance of expanding services and deepening community engagement to ensure every individual has access to essential healthcare. To make this vision a reality, we invite you to join us in enhancing future camps in the following ways:

  1. Boosting Rural Outreach and Early Awareness
By confirming camp venues early and increasing our outreach efforts, we can alert rural communities—up to 50 kilometers away—well in advance. This will maximize participation and ensure that those in need of care know about upcoming camps. Your support can fund these early communication efforts, connecting us to patients who might otherwise not have known about our services.

  2. Hosting Health Awareness Events to Prepare Communities
For communities with limited access to health education, we aim to organize  gatherings a few days before the camp begins. These gatherings not only inform but uplift, building trust and awareness of treatable conditions. By sponsoring these gatherings, you help us reach individuals who may have otherwise never sought medical help.

  3. Ensuring Free Access to Medicines and Reading Glasses
Even a small fee can be a barrier to those struggling financially. Your support allows us to make medication, reading glasses, and surgeries accessible to everyone at no cost, relieving families of additional financial strain.

  4. Expanding Medical Services to Include Dental and ENT Care
Healthcare needs extend beyond vision, with many community members suffering from untreated dental or hearing issues. Your donation can enable us to offer dental and ENT (Ear, Nose, and Throat) services, creating a more comprehensive healthcare experience for patients.

  5. Building Cultural Bridges Through Local Health Volunteers
Language barriers and cultural beliefs can hinder acceptance of necessary treatments. We will engage Community Health Volunteers (CHVs) who speak the local language and can explain procedures in a reassuring way. With your help, we can build a team of trusted, local CHVs to ease these concerns and foster trust, particularly among the elderly.

  6. Inspiring Future Contributions Through Compelling Media
Sharing our patients' stories through photos and documentary footage allows us to show supporters firsthand the difference their contributions make. Your continued support enables us to capture these powerful narratives, showcasing the immediate and lasting impact of each surgery.

Thank You to Our Donors

This camp, and the lives it transformed, would not have been possible without the generosity of each donor who contributed to this cause. Every donation, whether large or small, fueled a remarkable journey from darkness to sight for so many individuals. To all our supporters: thank you for giving the gift of vision, hope, and a brighter future. Together, we are changing lives, one surgery at a time, and creating a legacy of compassion and health that will continue to uplift entire communities.

We look forward to your continued support as we expand our reach, bringing sight, health, and hope to even more individuals in need.
